Senior Data Analyst
- Utilise your high level data and reporting skills to assist in the delivery of services within the north west Melbourne region and Primary Health Networks Nationally.
- Full Time (1.0 FTE), Permanent role
- Remuneration: Band $89,184.51 - $111,200.77 + 12% superannuation + generous NFP salary packaging options up to $18,550.
- Location - 737 Bourke Street, Docklands Victoria 3008, Close to Southern Cross Train Station, Onsite or Hybrid; WFH (2-3 days)
Short description about the role
Sitting under the Insight Performance and Digital Services team, the Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for collating, managing and documenting data from a wide variety of sources:
- primarily operational;
- reporting (transformed and modelled from an operational system);
- and statistical
You will employ a variety of analytic and visualisation techniques to interpret and present qualitative and quantitative data into accessible and useful information. You will use your broad range of skills including: encompassing data flows, modelling, preparation, and transformation, as well as interpretation and analysis.
You will have an understanding of data sensitivity and context, this is important as the role works with a wide range of operational and population-level data with varying levels of complexity and readiness. The Senior Data analyst requires a robust knowledge of the data lifecycle, including collection, ETL, and data modelling.

What will my typical week look like?
- Meet and discuss with key stakeholders (internal and external) to confirm purpose of report/analysis, gather requirements, and document as required. This could include other PHNs, service providers, and government.
- Develop and maintain documentation, such as processes, guidelines, and overviews. Documentation is required for both internal and external stakeholders. External stakeholders include PHN data teams, governmental departmental staff, and other federal and jurisdictional bodies.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis and investigation to identify appropriate data for reporting and analysis while undertaking quantitative and qualitative analysis of data to inform and support planning, monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Develop reporting and analysis using design-thinking, with appropriate data visualisation techniques to convey clear information, using the most appropriate technological methods for the task.
About you:
- Have qualifications or suitable experience in a relevant quantitative field; Health Informatics, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science. A background working in the Health sector would be highly advantageous.
- Analytical & problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail while having the ability to make informed decisions, solve problems and analyse complex data sets
- Proficiency with SQL, and with Python. Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI or similar technology.
- Understanding of data management and governance with excellent organisational, time management, written, and verbal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop concise and meaningful data summaries and analysis for presentations and publications.
- Experience analysing data within a complex health sector
